There is something powerful about young people gathering in one space not just to talk, but to grow, worship, serve, and dream together. That energy was alive throughout the Cohort 15 Fellowship experience. From heartfelt worship sessions to honest conversations, moments of laughter, prayer circles and mentorship, one thing became very clear: ICY is a movement.
At the heart of ICY are four pillars that shape every interaction, every activity, and every testimony shared by the youth:

These pillars are not just words written on paper, they are lived out in real moments by real young people.
The heart of ICY Africa beats with the rhythm of connection. Imagine a space where laughter echoes, hugs are freely given, and friendships blossom across cities and countries.
In a generation where many young people feel isolated or misunderstood, ICY creates a Christ-centered community where young people grow spiritually, build godly relationships, and sharpen one another in faith, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17. It becomes a place where friendships are formed, encouragement is shared freely, and no one feels left behind.
One of the most beautiful things captured throughout the sessions was the sense of brotherhood and sisterhood among the youth. The conversations were honest, the interactions were natural and the support was real.
ICY reminds us that sometimes healing begins when one young person tells another, “I understand what you’re going through.”And in those moments, strangers become family.
Throughout the gathering, worship moments, prayer sessions, reflections, and testimonies showed young people intentionally drawing closer to God. There was sincerity in the way they worshipped, listened, and spoke about their spiritual journeys.
What stood out most was how relatable faith became within the space, young people openly expressed their desire to know God more deeply, serve faithfully, and live purposefully, through testimonies such as Brian’s personal testimony about establishing a consistent prayer routine this shows how the program fosters deep engagement with scripture through Bible study.
This becomes a reminder that young people are not too young to carry purpose, lead worship, share God’s word, or inspire others spiritually.
In every prayer circle, every worship song, and every testimony, one message echoed clearly:God is still moving powerfully through young people.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers”
1 Timothy 4:12
ICY Africa doesn’t just inspire internal growth; it ignites a passion for outward impact. The sessions reflected leadership, awareness, and conversations about impact.
As the Bible says “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:17, the youth were encouraged to not only grow individually, but also to think about how they can transform society through service, creativity, innovation, compassion, and action. As Sharon eloquently puts it, there’s a “serious obligation” to share the word of God in every sphere of our lives.ICY Africa equips young people to confront inequality and poverty through community service, building teams, and leading their peers.
It’s a powerful reminder that transformed lives lead to transformed communities, driven by faith, justice, dialogue, advocacy, and innovation.This pillar teaches an important truth: Being a young leader is not just about success. It is about service.
One of the strongest messages throughout the experience was that young people are not the future of the church alone, they are an active part of the church right now. Owane Max beautifully articulates the beauty of “a combination of denominations” coming together, fostering unity within the Christian faith. This inter-denominational approach strengthens the church as a whole.
Through discipleship, fellowship, and shared faith experiences, the connection between young people and the church grows stronger. Rather than feeling distant from the church, the youth felt involved, seen, needed and empowered.
That is what makes ICY special, it is nurturing a generation that does not simply attend church but actively strengthens it.
In a world constantly pulling young people in different directions, ICY stands as a space of purpose, connection, faith, and transformation, creating a generation grounded in faith, connected in friendship, committed to service, and passionate about the church.
And through its four pillars, ICY continues to raise young people who are ready to impact the world while staying rooted in God.Because when the youth are empowered spiritually and socially, entire communities change for the better.
The Gospel was never meant to stop with us; it was meant to move through us.
